bullet  General Notes:

Thomas Dascomb, Sr. is the oldest known ancestor in the family tree.

Librarian of the U.S. Soldier's home in Washington, D.C., and born in 1881, Josephine Daskam Bacon researched much of the Daskam line for the DAR in Conn. to enable her to join the New England Society based on Mayflower desendents.
She said this: "you will be interested I am sure to learn the claim of the descendant who had heard of the Earl Daskam is quite valid. An old friend of mine, Sur Venille Jodrell, a member of Parliament, was interested in my mentioning the Scotch Daskam ancestor coming overin 1745. He said that Daskam was not an uncommon name in Scotland, especially around Aberdeen, and that he had seen, while motoring about, a family graveyard with the Earl of Daskam".

The records of Christ P.E. Church, Stratford, say that Abigail was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Dascomb, who may have m. (2)Elijah Fairchild of New Milford, Mar 12, 1785.

In land records Thomas Dascomb mentions "my son Robert" and Thomas Daskum, Sr. of Stratford gave "my son Thomas Daskum, Jr. of Stratford 1 acre in the bounds of Stratford".
Children were then baptized some time after they were born, depending on how far they lived from the church

Faith Daskam:
Both the Western Daskams, descended from John (b. June 4, 1769 or 59) the probable son of Thomas Dascomb, Jr., and Mrs. Winnifred Schaeffer, from Thomas Dascomb, Jr. thru James, claim that a Thomas Dascomb came from Edinburgh with sons, variously named, among them Thomas and James.

From "The History of Wilton, N.H." by Livermore.
The Dascomb family. According to Prof.James Dascomb, who received the information from his father, one of the name emigrated from England about 1725 and settled in Watertown, Mass. Is said to have had two sons, James and Thomas and one daughter. James (1732-June 6, 1807) about 1766 removed
from Lunenburg, Mass to Wilton, N.H. James married Elizabeth Harrington.

From the earliest times, the towns of Watertown Mass., Stratford and Woodbury CN had the closest affiliations,(5 days by horse) so it is quite possible that Thomas Dascomb was the son of Watertown Massachusetts who may have been born in Scotland, but was married in CN, probably Stratford-Faith Daskam

W.S Daskam, 111:
suggests checking ships manifests from Boston Harbor for 1725 for Thomas, James and the daughter.
Mentions a Quitclaim deed, from the wife's father signed by Thomas Daskum with an x (illiterate) in 1734 in Woodbury. Handwritten the Hartford Staate Library.
